The latest podcast is out. I just wanted to touch base with everyone and let you guys know what kind of things I’m working on for 2016!
In the Spring of 2012, I was pretty sure something had to change. I was lost and hallow inside. The days were very dark and no sign of light in sight. I knew something really bad was going to happen. Because I knew that’s what it would have take for me to stop using and drinking. I had already been to prison, and on some days, I wish I were back there.
I also knew that the decision I made over the next few days would ultimately set the course of my life for the next five, ten and fifteen years. So I made the best decision I thought of at the time. And 15 months later after two rehab’s, a relapse and a couple of sober homes I created my first blog. It was called “Keeping it Real.” And my first post was called, “Tim.” And it had zero likes.
“…..Tim is moving out. He avoids eye contact with me. He laughs at things I say that aren’t even funny. Things that do not ask for a chuckle in response.”
So for the most part I kept the blog steady with the exception of a few months here and there. However it wasn’t until about a year ago that I realized in recovery that sobriety is not only a daily effort, but growing again, in sobriety was a daily challenge all on it’s own.
And that’s what I hope to share with you. Yes my story, your story is horrific. And we all have our own journey of how we got here. And now that we are here, starting our day and having a good foundation is priority, however we still need to learn how to live back in society, by becoming a part of it. Slowly.
So I changed the name of my blog from “Keeping it Real” to “Keeping it Sober.” Because as long as we hold on, and stay sober on a daily basis we can begin to work on other aspects of our life. And boy do we need it!
My goal is simple. Find out what works. Create content that you need. And share.
Episode 9 is actually three different podcast merged into one! Think of it as a end of 2015 clean up of all the episodes that never got published. Plus, a chapter of my personal story of addiction!
In this episode I share my “Casino” story, watching sports as “triggers” & where to set up your free blog!
Today I talking about decision making, my “Bar Story” and Spreaker.com! Follow me @keepingitsober on Twitter and get your post read on the podcast!
